Special Focus Videomakers

February 15, 2011

Special Focus has received an additional grant to develop a videomaking course for teachers and students. Teachers will receive training and support needed to guide their students through a successful video project. Students will develop basic video skills while learning in an engaging, fun, and "cool" way.

“Video literacy is the new paradigm,” said Elaine Clark, Special Focus Executive Director. “We have known for years that education needs to adapt to the new, digitally native generation. To provide teachers and students video skills while teaching state standards is a great benefit in any classroom. And students love it.”

“Having Special Focus teach videomaking to our students was a tremendous gift,” said Starranne Meyers, principal of Guiding Hands School in El Dorado Hills. " Given the Special Focus teachers’ theater and video background, I’m sure that the curriculum will be professional and engaging while being fun and sometimes funny."
